About

Hello , Welcome to Our Page

We are so thankful you decided to give us a chance and hope we can answer all your questions along with meeting all your needs. At Diego Dogs we put our furry clients first and focus on proper pet nutrition, grooming needs, and the overall health of your animals. My name is Amanda Bytof and I own and operate Diego Dogs. I moved to Los Angeles in May of 2014 and relocated to San Diego in June 2017. I was born and raised in the Midwest and have always had a strong love for animals and people. I do my best to show this in my hard work and dedication to Diego Dogs.
The idea behind Diego Dogs comes from a long-time dream to create a one stop shop for animal lovers. To combine pet grooming, self-wash, bakery, doggie daycare, dog walking, dog training, rescue, retail/products, and most importantly, a resource for pet owners in the San Diego area. With 15+ years’ experience in the animal care industry and knowledge of grooming, dog/cat behavior, dog training, pet care, vet medicine, holistic care, and the workings of rescue/shelter life, the idea became my main focus.

Pets

Leonidas James, commonly referred to as Leo, is a 12 year old German Shepard. He enjoys long walks on the beach with a rubber chuck-it ball in his mouth, cuddling on the couch with his mom watching movies, and wearing his favorite red bandanna. Leo has been with me since he was three days old and is a wonderful addition to my family and life. He is a registered service dog who accompanies me everywhere and is super dog friendly, kid friendly, and always happy.

Lexington Dean is my 14 year old rescue brindled French Bulldog commonly referred to as Lex. Lex has several nicknames Pig, Chunk, Stinky, Rotten, Naughty, and so many others. Lex enjoys sleeping, snoring, eating, taking naps, barking at random noises, chasing neighbor cats, and more eating.

I also have a turtle pond which contains goldfish named after Harry Potter characters.

Hobbies

Anything to do with sun, sand, beach, food, and travel. My hobbies include fitness, my dogs, and binge-watching Disney movies in my down time.

Mom

My mom shares my passion for animals. When she was young, she and her brother freed several dogs from the local dog pound before they were euthanized. After the rescue, she volunteered her time to find homes for the animals. She provides oversight and advice to me since the inception of Diego Dogs.

She provides continued support, relief, and time off for me throughout the year. Family and friends are very important to her along with the many dogs she has rescued over the years. Most recently her dog Scout, an 10-year-old Jack Russell mix that was rescued from an abandoned warehouse at 2 months old. She loves to travel, especially visiting and collecting lighthouses from around the coasts. In her downtime she enjoys a good historical fiction book!
